Dewalt Mardon – Professional Horse Breaker, Trainer & Work Rider
With over 31 years of experience in breaking in, pre-training, and work riding of thoroughbred racehorses, Mardy (Dewalt) brings a lifetime of skill, intuition, and dedication to every horse he works with. Now based in Bundanoon, NSW and offering his services to the Southern Highlands and South Coast regions, Dewalt offers breaking in, pre-training, and spelling for young horses of all breeds at a rate of $550 per horse per week.

Mardy's professional career spans decades in the thoroughbred industry, including international experience working for the Korean Racing Authority, where he broke in and schooled young racehorses in preparation for breeze-up sales. In Australia, he has worked under some of the most respected trainers in the industry, including Chris Waller, Richard, Michael, Will Freedman, and John O’Shea.

Known for his calm, confident approach and an exceptional understanding of horse behaviour, Mardy draws from the Monty Roberts method and other natural horsemanship principles to create trust, respect, and responsiveness in every horse he handles. Whether starting a young horse under saddle, conducting pre-training, or addressing behavioural issues, his goal is always to ensure that horses begin their education the right way — with patience, clarity, and confidence.
