Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) refers to the intense feelings of fear, helplessness, or horror that an individual experiences after a traumatic event. Over 50% of people have gone through at least one traumatic event in their life. Trauma can result from various situations, ranging from serious injury, death, sexual violence, and life-threatening events, to chronic abuse, neglect, bullying, and homelessness.

Effective treatments for PTSD may include cognitive-behavioural therapy, medications, other forms of therapy, or a combination of these treatments.
