FOUNDERS
Meet our amazing founder and directors of Angel House Australia Foundation Ltd

Founder & Director : Mental Health & Community
Mel Mardon
Mental health professional, registered specialist behaviour support practitioner, counsellor, cognitive behavioural therapist, life coach, psychosocial recovery coach and published author.

Mel founded Angel House in South Africa and Namibia 25 years ago. The name of this organization has deep personal meaning to her as it was originally chosen by her two eldest sons, Brendon and Zandré, who were both murdered respectively, one year apart. Zandré was killed on his first day in Namibia and Brendon was killed the year after in South Africa.

Following this devastating occurrence in her life, she decided to relocate to Australia and established Angel House Australia, continuing her work in mental health care and community supports and to give her youngest son an opportunity to have a new chapter to life.

She re-married her best friend and life partner in 2017 and they now live on a beautiful acreage in Dural, NSW where they dedicate their lives to improving the mental health and overall wellbeing of the community.

Director : Equine Behaviour & Horsemanship
Dewalt Mardon
Equine behaviour and Horsemanship training specialist.

Dewalt is the Director of Animal Behaviour and Horsemanship at Angel House Australia Foundation Ltd and shares a passion for the wellbeing of animals and people.

He has been Mel's biggest support through her lived experiences of trauma, grief and progressing in her career as a mental health professional.

Having spent the majority of his lifetime working with horses and other animals, Dewalt is a highly skilled asset to Angel House Australia Foundation Ltd and those who participate in the various programs involving animals and especially horses.

His calm and compassionate nature compliments the great work Mel does with clients of all ages. Together, they are an empathetic, compassionate and caring team.

MEET THE TEAM

ANDY

Andy is our 18-year-old Chestnut gelding and our Arabian "unicorn". He is gentle and loving, making him every child's new-found best friend.

LEVI

Levi is our 5-year-old Thoroughbred gelding and the leader of the herd. He is beautiful and knows it and the only Bay we have in our equine tribe.

ROSIE
Rosie is our golden Chestnut mare and received Premium Classification as a foal. She is a Revelwood and 11 years old. Rosie is a love project as she has never been ridden and struggles to allow herself to be loved and to trust humans.

JAY
Jay is our 6-year-old Thoroughbred gelding. Also a Chestnut, he is the biggest of the herd, but a big, gentle giant. Playful and loving in nature, he is our hippy-child.

Aussie
Aussie is another 5-year-old Chestnut gelding and our million-dollar baby (literally) as he won a group race with that prize money. (His registered name is Prime Star.) Sweet-natured and gentle, he is a true asset to our team.
